General Treatment

s-perfectSmile1Our practice can provide a wide range of dental services. These include:

Dental Examinations

We thoroughly examine teeth, gums, and structures around the head and neck. We also look for any signs of oral cancers or lesions in the mouth. If there are any signs of decay or other problems, we discuss treatment options and make notes of any conditions that may need future observation. Oral hygiene instructions are also provided along with suggestions to help you care for your teeth.

Routine Teeth Cleanings

At least twice a year, you should schedule a routine dental cleaning. During this visit, one of our dental hygienists will remove plaque from your teeth, especially from places where your brush can't reach, such as underneath the gum line and between teeth. Plaque is the number one cause of tooth decay and gum problems.

Non-Surgical Gum Treatments

"Deep cleanings" are indicated for situations where there is pronounced bleeding, swelling, and or pocketing of the gums around the teeth. Left unaddressed, these situations can lead to bone loss and ultimately teeth loss. When applicable, a non-surgical approach is the ideal minimally invasive way to approach these issues.

Bonded tooth colored fillings can be performed to replace damaged or decayed tooth structure.

A crown is a custom-made covering that fits over an original tooth that is either decayed, damaged or cracked. Crowns are made of a variety of different materials such as porcelain, gold, acrylic resin or a mix of these materials.

A bridge is a non-removable, permanent, dental appliance that fills a space that a tooth previously occupied. They can bring function and esthetics back to an area that does not have teeth and they help maintain the position and health of the neighboring teeth.

These are removable appliances that replace anywhere from one to multiple teeth.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are one of the most popular choices for replacing missing teeth. With dental implants, your tooth replacement looks, feels, bites and functions almost exactly like an actual tooth. Made of a bio-compatible metal, implants are placed into the jaw and fuse with the surrounding bone and tissue. A crown is then placed on the abutment and attached to the Implant. Implants are a great choice for:

  • Single Tooth Replacement
  • Multiple Teeth Replacement
  • Full Arch Replacement

Root Canals

A root canal is a procedure that extracts decayed tissue from inside a tooth, reshapes the canal and replaces it with strengthened filler. There are a number of reasons a root canal may be necessary, including dental injuries, severe decay and infection or inflammation in the tooth pulp. When left untreated, these problems can cause extensive damage to the tooth structure.

Tooth Extractions

An extraction is the complete removal of a tooth. Extractions are sometimes necessary if:

  • A primary tooth is preventing the normal eruption of a permanent tooth
  • The tooth has suffered extensive tooth decay or trauma that cannot be repaired
  • The patient has gum disease
  • The tooth is impacted – this is usually the case with the third molars, or “wisdom teeth,” as they erupt years after the other teeth and often have insufficient room in the jaw

Occlusal Guards

"Night Guards" are indicated for patients that grind or clench their teeth at night - leading to tooth structure loss and possible jaw joint and facial muscle discomfort. A custom fitted appliance is the ideal way to address these issues. We offer a variety of styles and materials.

Sleep Apnea and Snore Appliances

For patients that have been diagnosed with a mild degree of sleep apnea, or who have difficulty with CPAP devices, our office can help create and fit custom removable oral appliances that address these potentially dangerous and health affecting situations.

Custom Sports Guards

These are removable appliances that can be made in a variety of colors and thicknesses to help protect your teeth and gums during contact sports. They are also very important in minimizing the potential for concussions.
